We see their pictures weaved into nightly news programs and usually don’t think twice of it.
Or at least I didn’t.
I’m speaking of courtroom sketch artists, the people charged with reporting to us trials by the pictures they draw. And this job takes on an elevated air of gravity when a judge bans television cameras from the court proceedings.
I interviewed arguably the most famous of the bunch, Bill Robles, who has drawn practically every notorious criminal, from Manson to OJ.
